Stay-Silv® 6HP is a medium melting range silver brazing alloy designed for joining copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass. The alloy has a wider melting range suitable for joining loose connections. When heated above its liquidus, however, the alloy is fluid and suitable for connections with close fit-ups. Complies with the EU Reach & RoHS directive.

Features

  • Medium-range silver brazing alloy for copper-to-copper applications
  • More ductile than Harris® 0 or Stay-Silv® 2
  • Complies with the EU Reach & RoHS directive
  • Use Stay-Silv® white flux to braze brass or copper-to-brass
  • Not recommended for brazing steel or other ferrous base metals
  • Corrosion resistance is generally similar to the copper base metal, but phosphorus containing alloys, including Stay-Silv® 6HP, should not be used if the braze is exposed to sulfur or sulfur compounds in service
  • The phosphorus content promotes formation of a low ductility intermetallic with the base metal
  • Used in rod form for manual braze applications, but can be formed as brazing rings or on spools for semi-automated applications
  • Weight: 1.02 lbs
  • Phosphorus Content: 7.0-7.5%
  • Silver Content: 5.8-6.2%
  • Copper Content: Remainder
  • Other Content: 0.15%
  • Solidus Temperature: 1190 F (643 C)
  • Liquidus Temperature: 1325 F (718 C)
  • Brazing Range: 1275 F-1450 F (690 C-790 C)
  • Electrical Conductivity: 15.1% IACS
  • Density: 4.26 lb/cu. in.
  • Material: Silver, Copper, Phosphorus
  • Compliance: AWS A5.8 BCuP-4, ASME SFA 5.8 Class BCuP-4, ISO 17672 CuP 283, EU Reach, RoHS
