316LSi stainless steel TIG (GTAW) welding alloy has similar usage as TIG 316L, but the 0.65-1.00% silicon content improves wash and wetting behavior in the gas shielded welding processes. Conforms to AWS A5.9.

Features

  • 58,000 psi yield strength (as welded)
  • Stainless steel 316LSi TIG welding rod welds low carbon molybdenum-bearing austenitic alloys
  • 95 ft./lb. @ room temperature Charpy V (as welded)
  • Lower carbon content (0.03% maximum) resists carbide precipitation that can cause weld corrosion
  • Higher 0.65-1.00% silicon content improves the wetting and washing behavior of the weld metal, yielding a smoother bead in the gas-shielded welding process
  • 160 HB Brinell hardness (as welded)
  • Conforms to ANSI/AWS A5.9 & ASME SFA 5.9 ER 316LSi
  • 88,000 psi tensile strength (as welded)
  • 37% elongation (as welded);68% reduction of area (as welded)
  • 85 HRB Rockwell B hardness (as welded)
