Stay-Silv® 5HP is a medium melting range silver brazing alloy designed for joining copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass. The alloy has a wider melting range suitable for joining loose connections. When heated above its liquidus, however, the alloy is fluid and suitable for connections with close fit-ups. Complies with the EU Reach & RoHS directive.

Features

  • Flux not required for copper-to-copper brazing. For brazing brass Stay-Silv® white flux is suitable for most applications. Harris eco SMART® boric acid free flux, powder or paste, is an excellent choice to promote sound brazed assemblies
  • Medium-range alloy for brazing copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass
  • Corrosion resistance is generally similar to the copper base metal, but phosphorus containing alloys, including Stay-Silv® 5HP, should not be used if the braze is exposed to sulfur or sulfur compounds in service
  • Recommended joint clearance of 0.003 in. - 0.006 in. (0.08 mm – 0.15 mm)
  • Fluidity rating 4
  • Wide melting range allows the operator to fill loose connections
  • A frequent choice for brazing copper as it is "self-fluxing"
  • Well suited where close fit-up cannot be maintained
  • Brazing range of 1320oF - 1500oF (716oC - 816oC)
  • Complies with the EU Reach & RoHS directive
  • Weight: 1.02 lbs
  • Brazing Range: 13206F - 15006F (7166C - 8166C)
  • Melting Solidus: 11906F (6436C)
  • Melting Liquidus: 14206F (7716C)
  • Joint Clearance Recommendation: 0.003 in - 0.006 in (0.08 mm - 0.15 mm)
  • Fluidity Rating: 4
  • Corrosion Resistance: Similar to copper base metal; avoid sulfur exposure
  • Material Composition: Phosphorus 6.6-6.7%, Silver 4.8-5.2%, Copper Remainder, Other 0.15%
  • Compliance: EU Reach, RoHS, AWS A5.8 BCuP-7, ASME SFA 5.7 BCuP-7, ISO 17673 CuP 282
